To start using Vic's Science Studio, you need to have a compatible VR headset connected to the internet. As the action

Vic's Science Studio access modes

There are three modes of access to Vic's Science Studio:

  1. Demo access mode. This mode is accessible by everyone and was designed to show the best features of our application. To access the demo - several tasks and/or one assignment  - there is no need to create an account and have a license key. In this mode the user does not have access to Teacher Dashboard.
  2. Full access mode. This is what the customer receives after the license purchase. This includes:
    • A set of ready-to-use task scenes covering selected topics from general and inorganic chemistry

    • Creation of custom tasks within supported topics upon request

    • Our new lab devices and features testing

    • Personal dashboard with LMS tools

    • Our product support and troubleshooting

  3. Trial access mode is similar to Full access but is given for a shorter period of time, usually 1-2 months. This level of access was designed to provide a possibility to pilot the features of our software in educational institutions. Unlike the Demo Access, the Trial access is given only to those who provided enough information about themselves and details of their needs and intentions.

Downloading the app to the headset

To start working with the app in any mode, you'll first need to install it to the headset. In general, there are two ways of doing that:

  1. Download Vic's Science Studio app from the content provider. It can be headset manufacturer store (ex. Pico Business store),  MDM system store (Discovery XR by ManageXR) or our partners servers. In this case, the app is automatically updated by the content provider.
  2. Download Vic's Science Studio app installation file to computer via direct link and transfer it to the headset (this process in known as sideloading). In this case, the actual app is not updated automatically, however, it's possible install another app called Vic's Science Studio Launcher to get the updates directly from the headset.

After the download, find the app in your headset (depending on the source, it can appear in different folders) and run it.

First launch via direct installation

Once the app is installed and launched, you'll see two options  - "Enter as a guest" and "Activate the device"

By clicking Enter as a guest you'll enter the app in a Demo access mode.

Activation means binding the device to certain license, which is possible only after organization account creation and issuing the license key.

First launch via sideloading

Download the installer file to your computer from here. If you have a standalone VR headset (which does not need to be connected to a PC, for example, Meta Quest™ 3), please, choose an APK file, otherwise, you need a ZIP or RAR file.

For PC-VR headsets, please do the following:

  1. Unpack the archive file to a separate folder. Ensure that the full path to the folder contains only Latin alphanumerics and standard punctuation symbols.
  2. Run the EXE file on your PC.

For standalone headsets, you’ll need to transfer the APK file to your headset, which is usually doable only after the developer mode activation on the headset and involving special apps for transferring (for ex. SideQuest) In this case, the steps are:

  1. Connect the headset to your computer
  2. Transfer the APK file to your headset following the guides of SideQuest or similar transfer software.
  3. Unplug the headset from the computer

The application you downloaded and installed is not a lab itself, but a downloader. This scheme allows the user to stay updated with the newest version of the lab.

  1. Run the file

  2. Allow the installation from the unknown source and close the popup window

  1. After launching the application will offer to download the latest version of the lab. If the headset model happens to be unrecognized, you’ll be offered to choose the file from the list of supported headsets. If the installation button is not visible, please, scroll down
  2. Once the download is finished, the system will invite you to install it through a popup.
  3. It’s possible to run the Vic’s Science Studio lab directly from the Launcher for all headsets except Meta Quest devices. If you have one, please, proceed to the App library, choose “Unknown Sources”, open Vic’s Science Studio app from there and go to the section First launch via direct installation.
